摘要:
Preventing a biological weapons attack--long a terrifying battlefield danger and now a serious threat to civilian populations as well--is a major contemporary global security priority. The anthrax attack on the US Congress, the discovery of ricin laboratories in France and the United Kingdom, and the unearthing of documents detailing pathogen production process in al Qaeda hideouts indicate that terrorists are willing to pursue both biological weapons development and use. Here, Luongo et al further discuss the line of defense for securing former Soviet biological weapons.
