摘要： Editor’s Note: In the fall 1997 issue of Asian Perspective, Milton Leitenberg addressed the weakening of international nonproliferation efforts with respect to biological weapons. He cited Iraq’s production and deployment of biological weapons as one ongoing concern that the international community should address with appropriately stern sanctions. In the following article, Mr. Leitenberg comments on the current controversy surrounding UN inspection of Iraq’s biological weapons program.

摘要： 金庸武侠小说《鹿鼎记》第二十六回写道，韦小宝从海大富处得来一种化尸粉，对于这种化尸粉，书中将其作用过程、性能和来源交代得十分详细：倘若沾在完好肌肤之上，那是绝无害处，但史须碰到一滴血液，血液便化为黄水，腐蚀性极强，化烂血肉，又成为黄色毒水，越化越多，便似火石上爆出的一星火花，可以将一个大草料场烧成飞灰一般。这化尸粉遇血而成毒，可说是天下第一毒药，最初传自西域，据传为宋代武林怪杰西毒欧阳锋所创，系以十余种毒蛇、毒虫的毒液合成。母毒既成，此后便不必再制，只须将血肉化成的黄色毒水晒干，便成化尸毒粉了。韦小宝便是用它将两位喇嘛从搔痒开始，顷刻之间，肉烂见骨，最后竟然尸骨无存。两个武功高强的对手，就这样奇迹般地被战胜了。按，上述描写较直接的母题渊源当然是唐传奇，其描写聂隐娘将精精儿的尸体化为水。然而，母题流传后世，却有赖于许多中介环节。早在南朝宋刘敬叔《异苑》卷十，即载录了当时人们的信奉：“任城王六月沈饮，忽失所在，人以为中毒酒而化。”这可以说是现存最早的人体在外物作用下融化为乌有的例子。与此相关的传闻则是白马尿化鳖。据《杂鬼神志怪》（《太平御览》卷九百三十二引）载录，说是有人得了心腹病，死后从腹中取出一只白鳖，可这只...

摘要： The words "chemical and biological weapons" (CBW) send a shiver down most spines these days. With the end of the Cold War, the possibility of a massive nuclear confrontation appears remote, so today many popular doomsday scenarios center on the aggressive use of chemical or biological warfare by rogue nations or terrorist groups. As exaggerated as some of the accounts are, with CBW cast as the latest unseen, unstoppable enemy, the threat posed by these weapons is all too real, and growing.

摘要： This review article examines the growing concern about the threat posed by the use of biological weapons by States or terrorist groups. The article analyzes the nature of the perceived risk from bioweapons, the historical attempts to control them, and the emerging policy and legal framework designed to deal with the bioweapon threat. 摘要： 从人所周知,基因决定了人类的人种及民族特征:肤色、头发、眼睛、身高等等。因此,完全有理由相信,利用基因工程技术也可以制造出有选择杀人的病毒,即人们常说的基因武器。有的科学家将基因称之为“种族武器”,它可以根据人类的基因特征选择性地把某一种族群体作为杀伤对象。据以色列军方和西方情报机构透露,以色列正在研究生物武器,这些武器不会对犹太人构成威胁,但阿拉伯人就可能要遭殃。以色列的这一基因武器被看作是对伊拉克威胁使用生化武器打击以色列的回应。
