摘要： The article reports that East Elmbridge and Mid-Surrey Primary Care Trust has equipped its community-based staff with wireless mobile PCs to help them keep patient records up to date and improve patient care. One of 303 primary care trusts in England, East Elmbridge plans and commissions health services for local residents. The trust has estimated that the mobile PCs, issued in a pilot project to 55 staff, have saved each nurse or health visitor at least an hour and a half a day, meaning they can attend five more appointments a week.

摘要： The 2wear project explores the concept of a system formed by combiningseveral different wearable, portable, and infrastructural elements in an ad-hoc fashion viashort-range radio communication. This approach changes the way one thinks about the computer; it nowtakes on various forms and exhibits different functionality, depending on the individual elementsin proximity to each other. The system configuration, and ultimate application behavior, changesdynamically as the user employs different devices and digitally augmented artifacts or moves betweendifferent physical environ-ments.

摘要： This article focuses on a revolution in mobile technology. Driven by demands from users for smaller, lighter and highly functional devices with longer battery lives, manufacturers are working on incorporating leading-edge technology into their mobile devices. Long-life batteries will be a key component of future portable devices. Some industry watchers have recognized that a revolution is under way to move from traditional batteries to more efficient 'fuel cell' batteries. Early tests from Toshiba have already shown they can power a notebook for five hours. The fuel cell battery is fed by a small cartridge of methanol and works by converting chemical energy into electricity. The by-products are oxygen and water, which are recycled back into the cell. Steve Crawley, head of product marketing at Toshiba, said that fuel cells will be a big thing because they are very energy efficient. It is also easy to change a fuel cartridge. People may also perceive it as being a greener technology. Crawley anticipated seeing fuel cells in notebooks in two to three years' time.

摘要： 六年前，很多人都不知道PDA为何物，但现在景况已全然改观，至少熟知IT讯息的人绝对不会再发“PDA该怎么拼写”的疑问。我自己也很早就开始使用PDA，从索尼(SONY)推出的CLIE系列早期作品，到惠普(HP)、华硕(ASUS)的Pocket PC。因为在移动办公过程中对工作有所裨益，所以不少人还将PDA比喻为“移动计算小精灵”，几年下来，PDA的拥趸已经不少。
