摘要:
A revolution is brewing in America-and the world-about the way business is likely to be carried out in the future. Today's professionals routinely conduct business outside the traditional office. there are more than nine million mobile workers in the United States, By the year 2000, there mill be 30 million, according to David Hancock, president and CEO of Hitachi PC Corp., who gave the keynote address at the Fifth Annual Portable By Design Conference and Exhibition, The conference/exhibition was sponsored by Microwaves & RF, Wireless Systems Design, and Electronic Design magazines and was held February 9-12, 1998 at the Santa Clara Convention Center, Santa Clara, CA, Hancock said that the key would be mobile computing made possible by equipment such as powerful new portable laptop computers, intelligent phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), personal servers, and other tools that will increase the productivity of mobile workers by 15 to 40 percent. To make it a reality, designers and manufacturers must understand the holy trinity of mobile computing-ease of use, effortless communication, and affordable cost. Putting these concepts into practice will serve as the "enablers" that allow business men and women to mobilize their resources wherever they are.
