In the near future, mobile computing systems are expected to support a large number of mobile users with diverse network services. However, due to physical constraints, the limitation in wireless communication bandwidth between the base stations and the mobile computers becomes more severe. Moreover, the rapid growth in the scale of mobile computing systems results in substantial protocol overheads. This may offset other computation and communication *** cope with these problems, we present a novel distributed caching protocol that can reduce the wireless bandwidth consumption as well as improve the response times for data accesses. We also propose a new mobile terminal tracking protocol that can track the mobile computers more effectively. Using these protocols, the contention of the wireless communication channel can be lowered.
