摘要:
It is estimated that about 17·5% of arable land in the Wielkopolska region of Poland is subject to strong and very strong wind erosion. Mechanization of field work and the basic effects of tractor wheels on the soil are considered to be one of the main causes of this. An investigation was made of the effect of the tractor forward speed and unit wheel load of the tractor and trailer set on the increase of soil surface density, its aggregate structure and susceptibility to wind erosion. Measurements of wheel slip, speed and wheel deformations were based on a recently developed method in which a cine-camera was used, while wind erosion in the track was determined with a specially designed test stand equipped with an air fan and Allnier probe. It was found that compaction of dry soil, at a tractor wheel load of about 117 kPa, decreased wind erosion resistance, whereas compaction of wet soil increased its resistance.
