摘要： The development of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology has already moved closer to everyday applications, for instance by replacing bar codes. This can be seen in such well-known businesses as, for example, Wal-Mart and Metro, which have decided to utilise RFID technology to identify pallets. This is just the beginning, and full profit will not be achieved before all parties can obtain information on items in the vicinity easily. This requires the development of a consistent technology with a well-structured information management system. Unfortunately, RFID markets are currently mixed and mostly at an intermediate stage of development, with a wide range of different identifiers and information management systems. In order to make the choice of the identifier easier, we analyse the effect of the length of RFID identifiers on the identification process and speed. The examination is based on both measurements and a developed theoretical model. This paper demonstrates that even a small change in the identifiers' length has a significant influence on identification speed and therefore on system performance. Furthermore, increasing the identifier length decreases the identification reliability. The results allow forecasting of the identification time of a wide range of tag populations and identifier lengths of various sizes. © 2006, Copyright Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

摘要： This part of ISO/IEC 15459 specifies the procedural requirements to maintain a non-significant, unique identifier for item management applications, and outlines the obligations of the Registration Authority and Issuing *** part of ISO/IEC 15459 excludes those items where ISO has designated Maintenance Agencies or Registration Authorities to provide identification schemes. It does not apply to— freight containers, because their unique coding is specified in ISO 6346, Freight containers — Coding, identification and marking;— vehicles, because their unique identification is specified in ISO 3779, Road vehicles — Vehicle identification number (VIN) — Content and structure;— car radios, because their unique identification is specified in ISO 10486, Passenger cars— Car radio identification number (CRIN).The exclusion also applies to ISO 2108, Information and documentation— International standard book number (ISBN) and ISO 3297, Information and documentation — International standard serial number (ISSN).NOTE The scope of each of ISO 2108 and ISO 3297 identifies the title rather than the individual copy of a book orperiodical. As such, the level of identification achieved is at a level higher than the unique identity required to be compliant with this part of ISO/IEC 15459.

摘要： It is now widely or even universally accepted that computer systems that are used within healthcare to record information about the care given to patient's need to share that information with other computer systems and their users. In order that computer systems may share information effectively there is a requirement that the communicating parties, and particularly their computer systems have a common understanding of how the information which they are sharing is represented. This sharing of representation needs to take place at a number of levels, most notably at the data representation or syntactic level which is the subject of CEN/TS 14796, but also at the macro or semantic level where groupings of data are used to provide a context or set of contexts for the data. This Part 4 of the standard is limited to descriptions of components concerned with messaging, and in particular the message and batch headers.

摘要： Purpose - This paper aims to describe the digital object identifier (DOI) system, an implementation of the Corporation for National Research Initiatives handle system, where a handle is designed to provide an efficient, extensible, and secured global name to an intellectual object. Design/methodology/approach - Explains the overview of DOI system, its components with examples in addition to benefits of DOI to user communities. Findings - The management of intellectual objects in a digital environment such as the internet, which is flooded with various kind of objects like research articles, e-books, electronic theses and dissertations etc. requires the existence of persistent, reliable identifiers for each distinguishable piece of content and associated services activated by these identifiers to manage access and other digital rights. The DOI is the essential part of the electronic publishing especially for the management and the access of the resources is concerned. The DOI system is the new technology developed for persistent identification and interoperable exchange of intellectual property on digital networks. Originality/value - This paper offers a useful explanation of DOI and their implementation in simple way for the professionals.

摘要： This part of ISO/IEC 15459 specifies a unique, non-significant string of characters for the identification of transport units. The character string is intended to be represented in a bar code label or other AIDC media attached to the item to meet item management needs. To address management needs, different classes of items are recognized in the various parts of ISO/IEC 15459, which allows different requirements to be met by the unique identifiers associated with each class. The rules for the unique identifier for transport units, to identify physical logistical transfers, with the identity relevant for the duration of one or more items in the load being held or transported as part of that load, are defined and supported by an example.
