摘要： This paper presents the results of a national survey of states mental health authorities regarding the use of unique client identifiers (UCI). Results indicate that 78% of respondents used some UCI, and all used one or more of three types of UCIs, i.e., an existing number, a constructed identifier, or an assigned number. Issues concerning the purpose of use, implementation, barriers and problems with the different UCIs are discussed in order to help state and local authorities make informed policy decisions regarding the selection and implementation of a unique identifier in mental health data systems.

The LOINC database should be of interest to hospitals, clinical laboratories, doctors' offices, state health departments, governmental healthcare providers, third-party payers, organizations involved in clinical trials, and quality assurance and utilization reviewers, The fifth release of the LOINC database, containing codes, names, and synonyms for similar to 6300 test observations, is now available on the Internet for public use, Here we describe the LOINC database, the methods used to produce it, and how it may be obtained.
