The popularity of online video games is rapidly increasing in China, but sexism against women has become a significant issue within these games. In this study, we identify which personality traits predict sexism in online gaming. Through a survey of 420 Chinese male participants aged 18~63 (M = 29.60, SD = 7.20), we found that aggressiveness, social dominance orientation, and territoriality were positively correlated with sexist attitudes in online gaming. Based on these correlational results, we further conducted regression analysis, which revealed that aggressiveness, social dominance orientation, and territoriality could positively predict sexist attitudes in online gaming. Our study contributes to a deeper understanding of the causes of sexism and provides insights for developing more effective strategies to combat it.
