摘要:
Young people who have emotional and behavioral disorders have difficulties in school and in society for a wide variety of reasons, and with dire consequences for their education and the likelihood of them being arrested or homeless. This study and project-based learning program is designed to address their needs vocationally, emotionally, and educationally, with a focus on select Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects. The program description, named The Green Project Guide, makes use of a fundraiser recycling plastic bottles, cans, newspaper, and cardboard in exchange for money from a recycling center for class petty cash. The money is then used for project-based learning activities such as making a class garden. Preliminary data, including behavior progress charts and observations are provided and evaluated for future recommendations.
